If fashion were high school, Karlie Kloss would be the girl who's class president and prom queen... at the same time. The Missouri native is L'Oréal's newest face, Taylor Swift's dearest friend, and—true to the rumors—she'll be hanging up her Victoria's Secret Angel wings this fall to matriculate at New York University."That's right," Kloss confirmed backstage at Isabel Marant's fall fashion show.
"I'm starting as a freshman at Gallatin," she said, name checking the NYU independent study program that boasts Anne Hathaway and Rooney Mara as alumna. (Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen also attended briefly, and Dakota Fanning is currently enrolled.)But why go to college if Kloss is already a career superstar?"The more I travel, the more I realize I have so much to learn about the world," answered the 22-year-old. "I'm such a nerd about science and math, did you know that?" (No!) "And history, culture, languages...Traveling so much has made me realize, I have to invest in myself. And that's what education is, I think: a great investment in me. And I need to find a balance between that and my career, so that's my project for fall."

With a laugh, I ask the barely-legal blonde what she wants to do when she grows up."Oh," she grins, "I'm going to continue working as a model. I want to do it all! And I think it's possible to keep working while you go to school. Christy Turlington did it. Natalie Portman did it. Emma Watson just did it! And those are just women in the public eye, but plenty of others do it, too. You know, women around the world are great at multitasking. We do it well."
Case in point: In between walking for Marant, Balmain, and Mugler, Kloss ran the Paris half-marathon for charity. "I've grown up doing the shows, in a sense," she shrugs, "I like being a part of the shows, the adrenaline, and seeing the collections before anyone else, wearing them before anyone else, knowing I'm part of a designer's vision—I really enjoy that... but it's such a part of my year now, walking spring and fall. Maybe I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't do [the runways]!"Well, then she could hang out with the Taylor / Lena / Cara / Haim #GirlGang... wait, is there still a #GirlGang? Is Karlie still in it?"Girls are stronger in numbers," Kloss smiles slyly. "So, yes. I believe girls should stick together whenever possible."
